Bill Nye
NYELEC was established by Bill Nye in March 2020. Having grown up in Townsville in Queensland, and the small town of Alexandra in Victoria, Bill became a Gippsland local when he moved to Venus Bay in 2010, completing Year 12 in Leongatha.
He began his career as an electrician in 2011 when he started an apprenticeship at JMC Electrics under Eddie McMicking - not only his boss and mentor throughout a decade of working together, but someone his still considers one of his best mates today.
Today, Bill lives in Venus Bay with his partner Jamie-Lee, and their four young children Scarlett, Archer, Violet and Florence.
Mick McRea
Mick is the most experienced electrician at NYELEC by a country mile, with others relying on him for advice on jobs regularly.
Mick ran his own successful company for over 10 years, but eventually decided to make the most of his weekends and weeknights, and wind back to 9 to 5 job rather than running his own business.
He joined NYELEC in May 2021, and quickly started running his own jobs with Nate as his right-hand man. Mick does a fantastic job at any task he is given; he does things once, and he does them right (something we call the NYELEC way)!
Tom Vanderkolk
Young Tommy was NYELEC’s very first employee. A born and bred Venus Bay boy, he played footy for the Leongatha Parrots before making a move to the Tarwin Sharks in 2021. He is a likeable young lad and loves to let his hair down on the weekends.
He began his apprenticeship with NYELEC in June 2020 after completing Year 12 in 2019 and, now a second year, has proved to be a great asset to the team.
Nate Bateman
Nate was Bill’s first ‘helper’ when NYELEC was first established when he wasn’t busy working at Wonthaggi KFC. He officially began his apprenticeship with the team in April 2021, not after submitting his resume or calling up to enquire about work, but after leaning out the drive-thru window and simply asking Bill for a job - something that immediately impressed his new boss and showed he had initiative.
When Nate was finally old enough to get himself to work, he was straight onto the team and has been a great worker ever since, with plenty of potential to one day become a great electrician.
